Honeymoon 2022 // Banff, Canada

this isn’t the usual blog post, but my wife Courtney and I got married in January 2020 and planned to take our honeymoon that summer (HA) — obviously, that never happened. we had our trip booked in early 2020 and ended up rescheduling this trip SIX times over TWO YEARS. we had seen Kara and Nate travel with Karma Campervans and knew that was exactly what we wanted to do! Karma was more than accommodating and gracious and we are so thankful to them. not only were they so wonderful to work with, we were continually impressed with the van itself throughout the trip. it came fully stocked with kitchenware, a cooler, a (comfy) queen size bed, and room to spare! it was outfitted for winter, complete with a heater powered by solar panels.

traveling with the van was the perfect way to see the National Parks in Canada, both Banff and Jasper. we flew into Calgary, picked up the van, stocked up on groceries for the week, and then drove the 1.5 hours into Banff National Park. we stayed at the Tunnel Mountain Village II campsite in Banff, where Courtney and I continued to be impressed by the state of Canada’s national parks and campsites! we rode the Banff Gondola to the lookout and hiked to the top of Sulphur Mountain and ended our day at the hot springs. we took a day trip to Lake Louise where we hiked the frozen lake early in the morning before tourists arrived and cross country skied in the afternoon. we took the 3 hour scenic drive to Jasper National Park, with a pit stop along the Columbia Icefield to see the Athabasca Glacier and Athabasca Falls. Jasper was filled with amazing view after view, including a drive to Maligne Lake covered in three feet of snow! we did the ice hike in Johnston Canyon to see the upper and lower waterfalls and headed back to Banff for our last day to spend some time in town and treat ourselves to dinner out.

we couldn’t believe how great this trip was after trying to make it happen for two years and are already hoping to come back during a summer season. I brought along my camera and a few disposables (one with gorgeous black and white film) so here are some of my favorites from the week with the film sprinkled throughout! (ps, anyone want me to photograph their wedding with disposable cameras?? that would be the freaking dream!)
